He was born July 26, 1921 in Chatham Hill, Virginia. He attended the University of Tennessee school of Agriculture. During World War II he was a navigator onboard a B-29. Later he retired from the Air Force Reserves with the rank of Major. In civilian life he worked as an instrument engineer for the Holson Defense Plant in Kingsport, Tennessee. He died November 19, 1998 in Kingsport, Tennessee and is buried at East Lawn Cemetery in Kingsport.
