    Sampson was born March 17, 1750 in Swansea, Bristol, Massachusetts. He married first 1773 in Ulster, New York. Sampson purchased land in Smyth County, Virginia as early as 1770. He died June 25, 1832 in Smyth County, Virginia. Sampson and his second wife are both buried at the cemetery at Old Blankenbeckler School, north of the South Fork of the Holston River, above Riverside and below Adwolf, Smyth County, Virginia.
