Northeastern Tennessee, Kingsport in particular, was the starting point of the Wilderness Road into Kentucky. On March 10, 1775 Daniel Boone and his crew met at "the Long Island on the Holston". Near Reedy Creek the party spotted a black bear. Boone chased it and at Leslie Branch killed it. He marked the tree with the phrase, "D Boon cil d a bar O this tre 1775". (A similar tree marked "1760" was found about 25 miles away at Boone Creek) That night Dr. Thomas Walker, a member of the Boone party, entered in his diary that they had a good supper the first night because they had killed a bear that day. The bears are gone, but despite the advance of "civilization", the beech trees still abound. The details of the painting are as historically accurate as could be determined. The original painting is gouache (opaque watercolor) on pure rag watercolor paper. These hand-signed prints are $45.00. Shipping is free within the continental United States. ($5.00 extra for outside the continental US and international) The image size is 21" X 23 3/4".To order, just drop me e-mail

On a damp gray day, few people were about in the Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy. As I walked nearer to photograph a reproduction of Michaelangelo's David, a rain of pigeons came down about me. I couldn't get that abstract image of pigeons splashed across wet pebblestone out of my head. Seven years later I painted it. It is pretty much a study of texture. The original painting is egg tempera on gesso and masonite. These hand-signed prints are $45.00. Shipping is free within the continential United States. I try to make it a practice to paint the portraits of my pets. This yellow tabby lying in a patch of Fall leaves was a gentile creature named "Bozo". He had a slight paralysis on the right side of his face. But otherwise enjoyed his short life. This print is probably the most popular of all my works. The original painting is gouache (opaque watercolor) on pure rag watercolor paper. These hand-signed prints are $45.00. Shipping is free within the continental United States. This is a painting I did for the Sullivan County Humane Society. I donated the print rights to their Spaying and Neutering program. The model for the lady in the painting was my mother. The dog was another pet named Belevedere. The cat is the young Bozo. The original painting is egg tempera on gesso and masonite. I do not sell these prints.
